The Short Story and Poetry Competition presentations and prize-giving evening last Thursday was a well-attended success. Please see the results and awards below. The winner of the competition Adrienne Howell is shown here receiving the trophy from the Mayor of Blandford Forum Cllr. Lee Hithings, who thoroughly enjoyed listening to the entries. Thank you to everyone who submitted stories and poems and to our sponsors the Town Council and Leslie Shand Funeral Services. Our sincere thanks go to Rtn. Adrian Ford for his endurance and hard work in what is clearly a labour of love, to our hard-working judges, readers and all those who helped and supported the event. Very well done everyone.

The aim of the competition is to provide a platform for writers of all ages, wherever they live, to open the door into that secret garden where anything is possible and tell what they see, feel and experience. We offer substantial cash prizes for those placed 1, 2 and 3. For the winners of the Open fiction and Poetry categories, their names are inscribed on the handsome cups provided by the Mayor of Blandford Forum and Lesley Shand Funeral Service respectively. Also, there are categories for Under-18s and the ever-popular Flash Fiction. Our judges are established figures in creative writing and poetry.
