The club’s lunch for those alone on Christmas Day is held every year, Covid-19 permitting. We very much regret that pandemic restrictions meant we were unable to hold the lunch in 2020 and we are unlikely to be able to do so this year. The 2019 lunch was particularly memorable because community volunteers, including whole families, came forward to help serve the lunch and collect and deliver our guests – we are most grateful to you all.

Our guests come from the local community and are folks who would otherwise be alone either as individuals or couples, or who would struggle to cook their own festive lunch.  We thank the Crown Hotel for their help to stage this event and use one of their chefs to do the cooking.

Guests arrive to carols being sung by local musicians and singers and are given a drink of their choice before being taken to their table to pull crackers and enjoy some conversation.

Lunch is served by our volunteers starting with a  choice of soups, full turkey dinner and finally Christmas Pudding and custard, coffee and mince pies.  Alternatives are available.

During lunch guests are entertained by our Blandford magicians and then Santa himself arrives with a sack full of presents.
